I’m super excited, so I’ve decided to post an excerpt of my book here.

“The next few weeks after purple’s demise were a tad difficult, even the older girls felt sorry for us. They introduced us to alcohol and drugs, they said it would help us to forget our sorrow. They were right, every single time I smoked weed before mounting the pole, it felt like I was an entirely new person and nothing could kill my vibe. Even when the men touched me, it didn’t matter as long as I was high. That state of highness usually only lasted a few hours and then an overwhelming sense of sorrow would trail me. It felt like all the sharp objects in the house, including knives and razor blades, were beckoning on me. I would try to drown all that depression within the bottles of cognac, vodka and gin that I consumed. The effects of the alcohol would only last until I fell asleep. My dreams were torture chambers, I dreamt of all the evil in the world. I was always so afraid to shut my eyes. The alcohol would lull me to sleep, I’d have all these terrible dreams and I’d wake up with the worst headache.

We danced, got touched and had sex with any customers that showed interest through the night until the wee hours of the morning. Normal people worked in the daytime and slept at night, we worked at night and slept in the morning. If we refused to have sex with any customer or complained about the way we were being touched, madam Star would punish us while reminding us that she paid our parents a huge amount of money for us and until we were able to work and pay back that sum, we couldn’t regain our freedom. It was at this point that I realized that the money she had spent on my family was actually the price of my life. A price I paid with all my fluids; my tears, sweat and blood.”
